Typical Services provide to contractors, homeowners, &
realtors:
On unimproved lots, typically four ten-foot deep soil borings
are conducted within the
proposed home foot-print to provide a soil boring description of the soils
encountered and pass professional opinion on the suitability of the soils
for construction of the home.
Flood Elevation Determination of the most probable
100-year Base Flood Elevation for the parcel the proposed home is to be
constructed on.
Soil compaction testing on any fill material
brought to the home foot-print area to build up the pad, fill material
brought into the footer areas, and/or fill placed within a block-stem wall
foundation or on a monolithic slab.
Testing on natural, in-place soils to
determine if "loose" conditions are presence in regards to the soils
resistance to loading.
Typical items of concern:
Shallow groundwater in upper five-feet of
boring (s).
Voids or very soft conditions encountered within
the limits of the boring (s).
Buried organic material or heavy anthropogenic
debris.
Fat clay or Elastic Silt, locally called "Pipe
Clay"
Existing Structures:
S3Soils provides soil
testing and observation reports on structures that may have foundation
problems such as differential settlement or movement resulting in the
cracking or movement of the foundation, concrete block or the brick veneer.
Typically, cracking and movement within the foundation is found to be
directly related to the presence of buried organic material, buried
anthropogenic material, fat clay or elastic silt (pipe clay), or loose fill
soils which were not properly compacted during construction/installation.
If the testing reveals issues related to the existing soils, S3Soils
can provide a solution/design to offset the problematic soil conditions. S3Soils
works with foundation system companies to provide the installation of the
designed foundation system.
Observation letters and geotechnical
investigations on existing homes/structures in which question has been
raised regarding the presence of cracking above doorways/windows, warped
flooring, cracked floor slab, cracked foundation block/stucco, or cracked
brick walls.
Drainage Studies:
S3Soils provides drainage
studies on projects ranging from individual berm, swale, or ditch studies
for homes to localized basin studies for stormwater models and calculations.
Additional Services Provided:
Slope Stability Analysis and Design
Retaining Wall Soils Analysis and
Design
In most cases S3 Soils can assist the
Client with a design or concept plan to "offset" most any encountered soil
conditions.
