FHA & HUD Manufactured Home Permanent Foundation Certification for GA & FL

 

S3 provides observations of existing or recently installed homes to assure that the foundation system complies with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements and with FHA lending requirements.  The HUD  & FHA requirements are outlined in HUD-7584 (click hyperlink to go to publication).  In Florida, the requirements for a manufactured home foundation system is established within the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Rule 15C-1.   The State of Florida requirements are outlined in Rule 15C-1 (clink hyperlink to go to Rule).  In Georgia, the requirements for a manufactured home foundation system is established within the State of Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance Safety Fire Division.  The State of Georgia requirements are outlined in Rules and Regulations for Manufactured Homes Chapter 120-3-7 (click hyperlink to go to Rule).

Typical items S3 Inspectors Check

  • Pier Foundations and Foundation Types.

  • Pier Types (concrete block, wooden, or poured concrete).

  • Pier Spacing

  • Marriage Wall Piers.

  • Door Piers.

  • Pier Caps (typically 2" x 8" x 16" pressure treated wood)

  • Diagonal tie-downs (must be galvanized)

  • Diagonal tie-downs spacing

  • I-beam (chassis) clamps for strapping.

  • Longitudinal tie-downs (typically galvanized strapping).

  • Center-line tie-down and anchoring
