PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Mr. Robertson has performed and managed thousands of subsurface evaluations throughout Georgia and Florida, in accordance with ASTM standards, and managed numerous Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments. He has conducted geological and possible subsidence feature investigations, geotechnical studies, drainage studies, and conducted numerous geotechnical analyses on soils.
SELECTED PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Drilling and subsurface exploration for numerous coastal piling homes.
Site evaluations for numerous on-site waste water systems for residential structures.
Environmental soil and groundwater sampling for petroleum constituents near UST Sites for GADOT highway widening projects in Carroll, Elbert, Bleckley, and Pierce Counties, Georgia.
Sampling and reporting on CAP-B quarterly investigations and monitoring for former DOT maintenance shop UST systems in Lamar County, Georgia.
Managed and conducted ESAs for several clients including McDonalds, CVS Pharmacies, Ryan’s Family Steak Houses, Best Western Motels, Shoney’s, Captain D’s, and Eckerd Drug Stores, which included investigating and identifying radon, UST’s, LUST’s, environmental databases (CERLIS, NPL, RCRA, etc.), historical uses, previous owners, neighboring properties, local and regional geology, local and regional soils, and other uses which may have potential impact to the subject property.
Aqueous and soil sampling, utilizing EPA, State of GA (EPD) and State of FL (DEP) protocols, of BTEX, VOCs, SVOCs, PAHs, Metals, Oil and Grease, FLPRO, and PCBs.
Multiple Site Supervision and installation of monitor wells for sampling and determination of hydraulic gradient for plume migration interpretation as well as Geoprobing (direct-push) for sample extractions.
Operations Manager of three geotechnical drill crews, which conducted over 1,000 subsurface geotechnical investigations on potential residential and commercial sites each year.
Routinely performed Base Flood Elevation determinations for properties in Leon County as part of the Leon County Flood Letter requirement by the County Commissioners, which includes review of FEMA panels, site topographic data, aerial photography, and Records review at agency offices.
Supervision and sampling of multiple Underground Storage Tank (UST) pits to determine if contamination exists within the soils or groundwater.
Supervision and sampling of multiple Underground Storage Tank (UST) removals for potential CVS site.
Sampling and assessment of asphalt and gravel sub-base on state road turnouts to determine if material densities and thicknesses conformed to FLDOT standards.
Conducted numerous drainage studies on selected sites to determine surficial water flow and magnitude for potential structure design and location.
Nuclear density assessment of state road turnouts of soils directly under sub-base materials in accordance with FLDOT standards.
Trained personnel and performed numerous soil and laboratory analyses in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards. Conducted standard penetration tests, drive-tube density testing, nuclear gauge density testing, atterberg limits, cone penetrometer testing, standard and modified proctors, double-ring infiltrometer testing, percolation tests, and wet and dry sieve testing.
Conducted and assessed sand mining pit samples in accordance with FLDOT and AASHTO standards to determine if acceptable for roadway shoulders and sub-bases.
Conducted numerous limestone related subsidence structure evaluations, which included deep-drilling, sampling, and geological identification and interpretation.
Conducted and assisted in Geological and Soil Resource Reports for proposed Gulf Stream and Colonial natural gas pipelines in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida for permitting purposes by federal (FERC) and state (Environmental Protection) agencies.
Conducted and assisted in mapping the geology of northern portion of the Crestview, Florida 1:100,000 quadrangle for the Florida Geological Survey as part of United States Geological Survey State Map grant.
Supervised and worked on a Labor Union crew installing a geo-textile liner over contaminated soils and mine tailings on the Sharon Steel Mill, Utah Federal Superfund site.
Conducted multiple Level 3 soil surveys for septic system permitting. Projects have included commercial, private residential sites, and new proposed subdivisions with reports submitted to County Health Agencies for permitting.
Conducted numerous NPDES inspections, sampling, and monitoring projects for sites owned or operated by clients, including Norfolk Southern Railroads, Cobb County, Gwinnett County, Dekalb County, Target Stores, Kroger Stores, BellSouth, CSX Railroads and MARTA.
Conducted and reported on Electromagnetic Field (EMF) studies on high voltage transmission lines for private clients and public school systems.
Managed Electrical Resistance survey of a subsidence feature to determine nature and cause of the feature in a known karstic region.
